Kohphangan has many undeveloped bays and mountains, a few of them only accessible by trekking through jungle paths or by taking a boat. Koh Phangan is approximately 2.5 hours from Surat Thani Province and approximately 45 min. from Koh Samui Island by ferry. The cheapest way from Bangkok to Koh Phangan would be to buy joint tickets from Songserm Travel Center who operates joint ticket for (Ferry and Express boats, buses, railway, planes) to Koh Phangan. Or you can fly an 1 hour flight by Bangkok Airways daily from BKK to Samui and take the speed boat to Koh Phangan.
